Being a responsible father!
Bishop T.D. Jakes of the Potters House ended his speech today with his own testimony. He became a pastor of a 50 members church many years ago. With a small salary from the Church, he was not able to meet his family’s needs. He had to work for his brother who ran a construction industry. His car broke down many times. When his daughter was born, he and his wife had to use toilet paper and duck tape to use as a diaper. He struggled to take care of his family, so to be a father to his family.
Today is father’s day, a day to remember our fathers and appreciate them. A lot of us may not follow a culture of appreciating our fathers by giving them greeting cards, or verbally presenting the appreciation. However, we all have memories of our fathers and think about them occasionally.
Everyone is not lucky to have a father who is like Bishop T.D. Jakes. As a son or daughter, we develop a lot of expectation from our fathers. But our fathers may not meet those expectations. They may not understand them as important and give to us.
Are you ready to understand your father’s situations and still thank him for being a father?
